Job Type: Part-time
Objective: To provide students with high-quality instruction in an additional world language, in alignment with the IB PYP, promoting multilingualism and intercultural understanding as part of a holistic international education.
PYP Language Curriculum:
- Develop and implement a rich, inquiry-based language curriculum aligned with the PYP framework.
- Teach foundational skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in the Russian language
- Use engaging and age-appropriate methods to support language acquisition in a beginner or near-beginner context.
Cultural Exploration:
- Introduce students to the cultural traditions, celebrations and daily life of countries where the language is spoken.
- Integrate cultural experiences, stories, and visual resources to build students’ global awareness.
Transdisciplinary Teaching:
- Collaborate with homeroom and specialist teachers to connect language learning with Units of Inquiry.
- Support students in making real-world connections between the third language and other areas of learning.
Assessment and Feedback:
- Use both formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress in language acquisition.
- Provide regular feedback - including using the Toddle platform - that supports language development and builds student confidence.
- Write formal reports on student achievement for the three assessment and reporting periods of the academic year: 1. Progress Reports, 2. Semester 1 Report, 3. End of Year Report
- Meet with parents online or in person to discuss student progress and targets
Inclusive Instruction:
- Differentiate instruction to meet the varied language backgrounds and abilities of students.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom that supports risk-taking and language experimentation.
Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional learning related to language acquisition, IB PYP best practices, and international education.
- Collaborate with PYP Coordinator and participate in weekly planning meetings to ensure alignment with the school’s language goals and Program of Inquiry
Tələblər
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Language Education, Linguistics, International Studies);
- Strong proficiency in the target language and a satisfactory level of English;
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills;
- A commitment to international-mindedness, language acquisition, and the values of the IB PYP.
